Scary Halloween Finger Breadsticks

Makes 24

Ingredients

  • 18 oz Bag of pizza dough, keep refrigerated

  • 2-3 Tsp Extra Virgin Olive Oil, divided

  • 1 Tsp Italian Seasoning

  • Roasted Red Peppers or Sundried tomatoes, cut into ¼ inch pieces

  • Spanish Olives, small with Pimento removed, halved

Dipping Oil

Ingredients

  • ½ c Extra Virgin Olive Oil

  • ⅓ c Balsamic Vinegar

  • 1 Tsp Italian Seasoning or Dried Basil

  • ½ Tsp Salt

  • ¼ Tsp Black Pepper

Directions

Preheat Oven 400F

  1. In a medium bowl add 1 tsp olive oil until the bowl is lightly coated then add the pizza dough and roll it around so it is coated; cover with plastic wrap and leave on the counter. Let sit for up to 1 hour.

  2. Letting the dough rest allows the gluten to relax and makes it easier to stretch, roll the dough without tearing.  Adding the olive oil to the bowl keeps the dough from sticking to the bowl and covering with plastic wrap keeps the dough from forming a dry skin.

  3. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.

  4. Roll the dough out and divide dough in 12 equal portions, rolling out to about 12 inches, then cut them in half.

  5. Add the sticks to the baking sheet about ½  inch apart.

  6. Press down well, half of the olive cut side down in the dough at the top of the breadstick so it looks like a finger nail and alternate with the sundried tomato pieces.

  7. Brush the tops with olive oil and sprinkle with the italian seasoning.

  8. Use a knife to make two tiny slits in the fingers to resemble creases in the finger.

  9. Bake until lightly browned for about 15 minutes or until lightly golden.

  10. While the finger sticks are baking, make the dipping oil by combining in a small bowl the olive oil, balsamic vinegar, italian seasoning, salt and pepper then mix well; set aside.

  11. Cool on wire racks.

Tip: Another option would be to use marinara sauce to dip the finger sticks.
